Help cleaning rusty BBQ grill?
I have a rusty bbq grill I am trying to clean. Does anybody know of a good cost effective way to safely and efficiently clean the grill to use again?
Im trying to avoid having to try and replace it.
I was trying to AVOID replacing the grate.
Do you mean say, using a bottle of club soda?
heat up the grill than wire brush it
believe it or not: one of the most powerful ways to take care of rust is by using soda. (try and use perrier it works best… we had rust on our wires on our golfcart and just pouring small amounts on each wire erodes the rust away! its cheap and one of the most effective ways

You should be able to buy replacement parts for it. Usually it is only the grates and burners that go and they can be replaced.

Other than his suggestion….tried and true!
Baking SODA with a bit of white vinegar mixed together prior.
Scrub mixture on grill………..heat………
reapply ….and again (as needed).
The Baking SODA will clean the racks AND Vinegar is one of the best antibacterials known to humankind.

long-time griller
Heat that grill REALLY hot. Take a grill brush or wire brush in one hand and a squirt bottle of water in the other. As you brush, squirt water just ahead of the brush. The steam will help clean the grill and get rid of rust. I tried this after seeing a gadget on late-night TV and figured I could get the same results without spending $20 plus S&H. It worked great. Once you clean your grill so that you can use it, be sure to clean it with a grill brush while the grill is really hot, after each use. That will keep most of the burned food from accumulating, and every once in a while use the water and brush method. When you heat up your grill for the next use, oil the grill with cooking oil so stuff doesn’t stick as much.
