My grill used to light up the whole unit. Now it only lights up half. Why? I replaced the gas tank and still have this problem. What could be causing the clog in the line?

The first thing I’d check is make sure the holes that the gas comes out in the burners are free from obstructions. Greasy, meat drippings can block those up tight. A small nail or a sturdy toothpick will clean the stuff out.

A bug such as a spider or something could have built a nest in there and that’s the issue also. But I’d start with examining the burner real well and move back the system until you find the cause.

Just make sure that the gas tank is completely closed off. Also be sure (is possible) to separate the tank from the grill, as long as you do that and it isn’t exposed to high temperatures you should be fine.

I like charcoal but my husband likes gas– Anyway, if you could recommend a grill i’d appreciate it! And wheres a good place to buy? I’m looking to spend $400-500. THANKS!!

Check out Weber Gas Grills. Very delicious cooking results, very well-constructed, minimum repairs needed. They hold up very well. Ours is still as new after 5-6 years. We also bought the cover to protect it from the elements here in FL.
Weber also has terrific charcoal grills. I don’t think there is a combo, because the charcoal ash would cover the gas briquets.
There are so many models & now is a good time to buy with Memorial Day sales.Check out Sears, Lowes and Home Depot, among others.
Have fun.

I love chicken thighs, but it seems like when i cook them i don’t cook them long enough and they burn on top, but also end up not being all the way cooked. what is the best way to cook them straight on the grill, I have a gas grill and need little help lol. I thought maybe if i boiled them first but I don’t wanna mess with that and not have the whole grill flavor. Any advice thanks

I am guessing that you have a thermometer on it. I get the grill up to 375 and then grill them for about 50 minutes and turn them half way. All they really need is a little seasoned salt on them.

I just went out to light my grill to throw some chicken on and the gas was still on from the last time I used it (which was Labor Day). I turned it off but how long should I wait before turning it back on?
Thanks for the response! I have it lit and it seems to still have propane in it so my chicken is saved lol!

If you mean that the valve on the tank was left in the open position, but the burners were turned off, there is no real cause for alarm (otherwise the tank would be empty by now). The reason to turn off the propane at the tank is chiefly to protect against a leak in the hose. To be safe, I would let it sit outdoors for 10 minutes or so, then go ahead and light it normally.

Every time I go to light my gas grill, it flares up so bad that it lifts the lid. I’ve dissected it (removed the grates and flame covering) and taken my shop vac to it, but it still flares up.

Flare-ups DO NOT LIFT a grill lid. You are having EXPLOSIONS of GAS that’s accumulating inside.

Without doing a "hands on troubleshooting" of your grill, I or no one else here can specifically identify the cause. However, I suspect that ALL of the gas coming out of all the holes is not being ignited when you start up the grill.

I suggest that you run several tests of igniting the grill, with the top open to try to identify which burner holes are not igniting at start-up. When you have identified the culprits burner holes that are failing to ignite, then you need to analyze for WHY they are failing to ignite.

As there are several possible causes, you should enlist the aid of a grill Professional, for example EXPERIENCED sales personnel at a GRILL SPECIALTY SHOP, OR contact the manufacturer to discuss the problem.

We did ribs the other day. Keep them moist, baste often. and do the same thing, turning off all but one burner, check them often. Can I come over? This all sounds super tastey!
