Can you cook with charcoal in a gas grill?

My gas grill has run out of propane. Is it okay to just put charcoal in and light it?

No. It is not designed for anything but propane.

  2. You could…but you would have to cover the propane spouts with a heavy layer of foil .
it isnt really worth it cause it could do damage.

do make sure you disconnect the propane and flush the system of any left over gas in the line……BE CAREFUL

What i would do is remove the propane distributor and the propane tank all together just to be safe… cover all the holes on the bottom with a layer of foil (this will also make for easy clean up). Once the layer of foil is in place, add charcoal and replace the grill. Light and enjoy.

    Peace.

  4. No, you cannot use charcoal in a gas grill. There are new convertible grills on the market that are designed to use either but it’s not a good idea with a traditional gas grill. It could be very dangerous.
