this is the second year in a row that I’ve used the Big Easy…we used to fry our Thanksgiving turkey’s. This year we had a 16 lb turkey…and even after about 2 and a half hours, it wasnt done all the way. I used a meat thermo in the breast….I did not cook with the ‘lid’ on ….should I leave the lid on while cooking??
The Turkey was injected before cooking, it tasted great…its even better cold , the next day too…
I’m sold on the Big Easy..
    thanks.

  2. The thing is NOT a …
The thing is NOT a “fryer.” Can’t be a fryer without oil, and I don’t know why they choose to market it as such. It works very well though; I always inject my turkeys with something like spiced wine or beer and they begin boiling from the inside out in a few minutes. Because they steam from the inside, they are extremely juicy and tasty. The “crisp” skin with a rub is not nearly as good as peanut oil-fried turkey, but a lot better than normal oven baking. I like it.

I bought the Big Easy this year. Cooked a turkey for Thanksgiving & Christmas! My family and friends rave that these have been the best turkeys they’ve ever tasted. Very easy to cook with!

  4. It’s difficult to …
It’s difficult to imagine a Moist Turkey coming out of this unit? And two hours for a 14lb turkey…I wonder how much propane is used in that time? It’s about $12-14 for a 20lb tank of propane around here. And where so the drippings end up… and is the clean-up difficult?

Peanut oil has become quite expensive, but it can be filtered and reused several times.

You can’t beat Hot Wings cooked at 400 degrees! And a 14lb Turkey cooks in about 30 minutes in the oil cooker.

I don’t pretend to understand what makes the way this cooks different from a regular oven. I can only say that I used it for the first time on Thanksgiving and the taste was incredible. So much better than in a regular oven. I can’t even describe how much. I also had someone taste the leftovers the next day and she said it tasted better than the oil fried turkey her family had for dinner.

    The inside is …
The inside is stainless steel. It cooks by indirect heat generated by a ring of flame concealed in the bottom and directed upwards through the sides of the unit. The top is actually open to the air, as it would be with an oil turkey fryer. I had already bought a 21 pound turkey, quite a bit larger, than Char Broils maximum size. Although a tight fit, it cooked in three hours. I would think a 16 lb. would be slightly over 2 hours.

    This year, I …
This year, I decided to buy a turkey fryer. I had concerns about the safety of turkey frying, plus the health issues of frying in oil, plus the expense of buying all that peanut oil, plus disposing of the oil…so, when I spotted the Big Easy Oil-less fryer, I bought it.

WOW! My husband was raved about the turkey long after the meal was over. I have to say, my family was totally awed by the difference. Plus, it was easy to do. Can’t wait to try it out with a roast! Thanks Char Broil!

  9. This looks like a …
This looks like a great substitute for the Turkey deep fryer that uses oil. They are far too dangerous, and I would never buy one of the oil deepfry cooking units. I would love to have one of these Char-Broil’s though!!! Also, I have cholesterol concerns, and fat free cooking is always my choice. Thanks, Char-Broil!!

  10. What a complete …
What a complete crock of crap. “Infra red” cooking? ALL cooking happens by infra red energy. You’re trying to convince people that your outdoor oven is something special. Congratulations, you’ve invented the oven!
