How do I dispose of a propane tank from a gas grill?
I’ve gotten rid of my gas grill and I still have the tank left. I don’t want to exchange it, I just want to get rid of it.

Take it to your local recycling facility. They should have disposal for propane tanks, used oil and thing of that nature.

Hazardous waste disposal centers will take old propane tanks. Look for one in your yellow pages. Also, some gas companies will also accept them, and dispose of them for you. Do not just throw it into a dumpster. These things are under pressure with residual gas inside and can be dangerous if thrown into an industrial incinerator from a disposal company.

call your county and ask. they have a disposal area for everything so ask them where to take it. Here it might cost you some money to dispose of it at their facility, but if you take along a receipt from a utility bill showing that you are a resident with land they will probably let you dispose of it for free.

Take it to a propane supplier – if it’s in decent condition they’d probably be willing to take it and add to their inventory.
