Is converting an outdoor grill to natural gas better than using the propane tank?

Richard is right in some aspects. The cost of having the "black pipe" run, and you will not be able to move your grill because it will now be in a fixed position and location. I use my grill often, and don’t exchange my tanks. Gas stations, and retailers charge way to much for that service. I go to my local Ag,(gas and oil supplier). The rates there are far less expensive to have your tank filled.

If you use your outdoor grill frequently, then converting it to you home natural gas line is worthwhile. It eliminates both storage of flammagle cylinders as well as having to take them back to the store to get refilled.

And it will save you money.

The downside is that you cannot use flexible hose as in the propane system. You will have to run steel pipe to your grill location. If you have the skill set…no problem….but if you have to hire a plumber, it can get expensive.

The fact is that Gas grills do not have the same flavor as briquettes. If you ever go to a BBQ competition, none of the cooks use gas. Buy a cheap briquette grill and have a taste test with your family. You will find that gas, although great for cooking in the house, is not very good on a grill. Use Kingston mesquite briquettes.
