Can I bring my own portable bbq grill to the beach?

Are we allowed to bring our own bbq grills to Huntington Beach, California? My friend is going to have a bonfire and we were wondering if we were allowed to bring a portable bbq grill to the beach, and use the grill on the beach. Last time we went there, there was a certain rule about the bbq grills, the fire could be a danger? I wasn’t really sure what was happenning but the people next to us got a ticket for having an open flame out of the pit.

I tried to find the rules on the website, but it did not say anything about bbq’s on the beach. Does anyone know where I can get the rules and regulations of the beach on bbq grills?

The one we are planning to bring is similar to this shape and size:

If you are on the camping area of the beach ( usually a 5 dollar fee to get in) , but not in the day use area.
